Bethesda Family Services Foundation offers a variety of training opportunities for individuals and human service agencies.

Restoring Relationships
The Restoring Relationships Model was developed to help adults and children heal emotional wounds caused by those who have offended or betrayed them. These training seminars offer a unique opportunity for individuals of different backgrounds (therapy, counseling, juvenile or adult corrections, faith-based intervention, education, etc.) to participate in training sessions designed to give them the specific knowledge to utilize the Restoring Relationships Resource Manual and Interactive Journal (order page) in their own agencies, careers, volunteer work, etc. Learners are awarded continuing education units where applicable.

PUBLICATIONS
A “ministry of reconciliation,” the Restoring Relationships truth-based model was developed to provide simple tools for individuals to lead others on the healing journey.

The Restoring Relationships materials are carefully formatted to adapt to a Sunday School series, cell group model or Bible study curriculum, and contain the Four Steps to Emotional healing, a journey described as simple in method, but profound in impact.

INTERACTIVE JOURNAL
Restoring Relationships: Healing for the Brokenhearted

The Interactive Journaling© format goes far beyond a normal workbook style.  It provides an experiential writing experience for the participant so that Biblical principles are internalized and applied with the goal of deeper discipleship and practical life change. It fosters action-based change going beyond hearing-based learning.

FACILITATOR MANUAL
Restoring Relationships Resource Manual: A Ministry of Reconciliation

This provides the teacher/ leader/ facilitator with additional Biblical content and insight.  The format is a 12 session “journey to healing.” It focuses upon the “Ministry of Reconciliation” that was given to us through Christ in 2 Corinthians 5:18.

Agency Training
Bethesda Family Services Foundation trains entire agencies/programs in our two-system approach (Relational Healing and Peer Governance), whereby all direct-care staff are trained to utilize both systems within their agency/program. Bethesda's agency training program ensures that the agency environment is safe, boundaries are well-defined, accountability is consistent, and staff members are prepared to utilize our simple approach to healing the hearts and changing the lives of participants.

Agency Certification
Agencies and/or programs achieve agency certification when all direct-care staff achieve, at a minimum, individual certification. Individuals participating in agency training programs may also receive Continuing Education Units.

Training for Therapists/Counselors & Family Intervention Staff
Our Relational Healing model, which focuses on family relationships and reconciliation, is encompassed in our Relationship Sequence, which occurs at various interpersonal levels in the lives of all human beings. Our Relationship Sequence and Family Healing curriculum are designed to bring victory and healing to the lives of troubled individuals and distressed families. Our seminars offer a method to understand how relationships break down and eventually lead to a cycle of conflict. A strategy is then set forth for intervention, which includes how to complete a thorough assessment and develop an appropriate plan of action for those individuals who need relational healing within their lives. Participants completing this training are awarded continuing education units authorized by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) or the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Affiliated Programs
Bethesda Family Services Foundation also offers staff training to our affiliated programs including Day Treatment, Residential Group Home, Parenting, Alternative Education, Foster Care, and Drug/Alcohol Outpatient Treatment. We then certify each of our own affiliated programs and offer Continuing Education Units to participating staff members.

Bethesda's training services and materials include the following:

  1. Two Systems Blueprint manuals and a series of other manuals and materials that provide the information necessary to implement Bethesda's Relational Healing and Peer Governance models in a community-based setting or residential facility.

  2. A complete series of more than 20 videotaped training sessions, which include many hands-on sessions featuring actual training demonstrations.

  3. The deployment of live training teams from our national office who demonstrate all forms of our therapeutic process, combined with Bethesda's various treatment modalities. This includes "hands-on" demonstrations with the youth and families from that facility. (Video)

  4. Ongoing technical assistance provided through phone conferences with managers, supervisors, and direct-care staff. Assistance is designed to walk staff members through procedural implementation and program glitches.

  5. Regular communication established and maintained through ongoing correspondence, which includes updates in materials, manuals, and videotapes.

  6. Routine parent effectiveness training, family healing seminars with clients, and live demonstrations of our powerful systems approach.
