From
a Past Student
I am not really sure if you remember me or not, so allow me to refresh
your memory. My name is Joshua B. Fetterolf. I attended your private
school back in 1994 and 1995 school years. When I first started school
was in West Milton then the following year it was over in your Day
Treatment Center in Milton. When it was in West Milton your wife was the
principal and Ms. Ames was one of the teachers.
Anyways what I am writing for is to let you know
that at the time I was in your school and therapy/counseling I
learned a lot however, I did not apply that knowledge to my life at
that time. I did not forget that acquired knowledge though, oh no I
couldn’t forget it. I truly believed it was helpful but at that time
in my life I was not ready nor willing for change to occur in my
life. Now change has occurred in my life and through the changing
process I utilized much of the tools learned from your school and
therapy.
I am currently in a Parenting Class taught by Ms.
Roarabaugh from your Bethesda Family Services. About two years a go I
attended the Level One class taught by Mr. Peirsel. What I really find
amazing and mind blowing, and I shared this with the class and Ms.
Roarabaugh. It is almost like a seed was planted 10-12 years ago while I
was in your school and therapy that never grew however it did not die
and it is now growing and blooming. With this Parenting Class it is like
a refresher of what I have already learned because it all is familiar to
me. Almost like cleaning up the tools I already have and reminding me
how to use them. I am very grateful to you because I am probably going
home in a few months. It is time, I have been in prison now for over
eight years. I just wish I would have used these tools 10-12 years ago
and then I would not have ended up in a place like this.
I just wanted to let you know that your system did
not fail at helping me. It may not have helped me when it was taught to
me, but it is not because no one tried. It is because I would not allow
it to help me. When I was ready for change though it was real helpful.
Thank you, Dominic Herbst and hopefully one day I
could possibly speak at your Day Treatment sessions.
