Youth of the Quarter: Allison
(Oklahoma Girls Group
Home)Allison is 15 years old. She has had the unfortunate
experience of dealing with abuse and other extensive family
difficulties. She moved
to Oklahoma from Colorado at the age of 12. For the last ten
years she has been raised by her mother and stepfather, and has a twin
brother. She has only recently had contact with her biological father.
Allison
was admitted to our facility in February. She displayed resentment
toward
staff because of the incident that resulted in her placement.
Basically
it was a domestic disturbance which resulted in her being the
only one charged. She struggled with the program for some time and
engaged in a
lot of manipulation and game-playing behind the scenes. She got
caught up in one of them and went through a rather intense accountability
group. Since that time she has turned her behavior around
and
become a solid
leader of the milieu. She will be discharged this month and will
be going to live with her Dad in (of all places) Pennsylvania.
We are very proud
of her for this.
